MARC KARELL, P.E., CEM, EBCP, is the Principal of Climate Change & Environmental Services.

Marc has over 25 years of experience in consulting working in the areas of energy, sustainability, and air quality. Working nationally for Fortune 500 companies, small firms and municipalities, Marc performs greenhouse gas emission inventories, energy audits, green building evaluations, toxic air emission inventories, strategic assessments to reduce emissions effectively and economically, and has negotiated with regulatory agencies concerning environmental issues.

Marc is a Lecturer at New York Medical College and teaches an advanced graduate level course in air pollution. He serves on the board of advisors of the periodicals Chemical Engineering Progress and Environmental Managers Compliance Advisor, and has numerous publications to his credit.

Marc holds a master’s degree in chemical engineering from Columbia University, a master’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin, and a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from New York University. He is also a licensed professional engineer, a Certified Energy Manager, and a Certified Existing Building Commissioning Professional.

Salvado Behar, RA

Sal is a practicing architect with nearly 30 years of experience in building design. His experience with “green” architecture and with principles from LEED and other green programs can improve the performance of your building and ultimately save you costs and raise its value. Sal attended the University of Southern California from 1972 to 1975, where he was awarded the USC Architectural Guild Traveling Fellowship as the outstanding graduate. He received his Master of Architecture degree from Harvard University in 1978.

Sal is a registered architect in the states of New York, California, Connecticut, and Florida, apprenticing under Philip Johnson in New York and Frank Tomsick in San Francisco. He has specialized in energy and economic consulting services and product development. Sal was the project director for the design and construction of the headquarters of Brooklyn Union Gas in downtown Brooklyn, a 800,000 square- foot office building with subterranean parking. Sal has been continuously certified by NYSERDA as a Lighting Design Partner.


Julie Bjorkman, PE

Julie has nearly 20 years of experience in the environmental consulting business, specializing in wastewater permitting, stormwater management, chemical storage management, facility pollution prevention planning, and regulatory compliance.

Julie has prepared Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), Best Management Practices (BMPs) Plans, and Solvent Management Plans (SMPs) for a variety of industrial categories. Julie has a B.S. Degree from MIT in 1991, and has been a licensed professional engineer since 1996.


John Fillo, Ph.D., CPEA

John has over 30 years of international experience in the assessment, design and implementation of strategies and programs for businesses to improve enterprise compliance/ risk management and financial performance, with a focus on EHS compliance and risk management and systems, Climate Change and Sustainable Development, environmental financial and managerial accounting, procurement contracting, and business process/ performance improvement.

John’s experience encompasses GHG emission inventories, emission trading, and reporting and verification; multimedia environmental permitting/planning/assessment; transaction due diligence, portfolio management assessments; waste management/minimization/pollution prevention; site investigation remedial planning/remediation/closure; assessment of business risks and economic impacts of changes in EHS legislation/regulations. He received his Ph.D. from Carnegie-Mellon University and is a Certified Professional Environmental Auditor. John is associated with Trinity Consultants.


Steve Garber, MBA, PhD

Steve, has over 20 years of experience in several environmental areas, such as nature protection, urban ecology, renewable energy, environmental impact statements, and wildlife conservation.

His main expertise is allowing companies to operate and expand without harming nature or being impacted by nature.. He has worked for both industry and government, and was cited in Business Week for his expert knowledge on urban ecology. Steve received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Sierra Club.


Bonnie Hagen, MBA, LEED-AP+

Bonnie is an MBA, a LEED AP+, a Certified BPI (Building Performance Institute) Building Analyst, a Certified Sustainability Planner, and a Certified Total Quality Management (TQM) Facilitator with a track record of proven success in reducing carbon footprints, driving revenue to the bottom line, and increasing customer satisfaction for major US and global organizations.

Bonnie’s work focuses on providing consultation, analysis, and implementation of environmental improvements for commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings. Her work involves not only reducing the carbon footprint, but in reducing energy expenses and helping these facilities secure the financial incentives available for these projects. She performs energy auditing and building analysis and manages energy load reduction efforts. She performs Benchmarking, NYC Local Law 84 compliance and EPA Energy Star Certification. She is a LEED project manager and helps facilities gain LEED certification.

As a leading-edge sustainability expert, marketer and educator, Bonnie has appeared in hundreds of publications, speaking engagements, TV and radio shows. She is a strong, action-based, results oriented leader, who is passionate about green efforts, sustainability, renewable energy, and energy efficiency.


Lynn Hoffman, IIDA, NCIDQ, RID, LEED® AP

Lynn has over 20 years of interior design experience working in architecture and interior design firms nationally and internationally, producing corporate, commercial, civic, hospitality and luxury residential projects. Lynn has directed interior design functions for projects ranging from 10,000 to 750,000 square feet. Her design expertise allows her to see potential in all spaces, and to create innovative, customized design solutions that meet the highest standards of efficiency, quality and sophistication. She has been a long-time professional advocate for sustainable and environmentally conscious design.

Lynn is a LEED® Accredited Professional, certified by the National (USGBC??) Council for Interior Design, and a Connecticut State Registered Interior Designer. She is a professional member of International Interior Designers Association and the U.S. and Connecticut Green Building Council. Lynn works with all green programs focusing on energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality and awareness and education.


Mark Kramer, M.S.

Mark has over 25 years of experience as a meteorologist and air quality expert performing climatological and air quality assessments, weather investigations, preparing air permit applications, and resolving technical issues for clients with the public, regulatory agencies, and attorneys.

Mark has also managed the first phase of the dispersion modeling effort required for resolution of the appropriate emission limitations for the industrial sources. He assessed the potential for downwash of stack plumes from several major utility coal-fired power plants located in Midwestern valleys under various meteorological conditions and stack configurations. Mark was the project manager for several wind tunnel studies. Finally, Mark is experienced in climatological and meteorological prognostications, with emphasis on prediction of long-term trends in temperatures and storms.


Norman Ostroff, PhD, PE

Norman is a licensed professional engineer with 50 years of experience working with industrial, utility, academic, and health-care clients. His extensive experience in air pollution control includes performing air emission inventories and compliance audits, ssessing and designing cost-effective air pollution control strategies and equipment, preparing air permit applications to give clients the maximum operational flexibility and, negotiating with a variety of regulatory agencies. Norm is also an accomplished photographer and Adjunct Professor of Chemical Engineering at Polytechnic Institute of New York, and of Mathematics at the University of Connecticut, teaching engineering and environmental courses.


Christina Schwerdtfeger, Ph.D., REA
Christina has 23 years of experience as a multi-media compliance and sustainability expert. Christina is a greenhouse gas (GHG) lead verifier who is accredited by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and is a Registered Environmental Assessor (REA) with the State of California, Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC).

Her experience includes program management, regulatory compliance, strategic planning, sustainability, pollution prevention, agency negotiations and regulatory interpretations and exemptions.


Dennis P. Shelly, P.E.
Dennis has completed environmental due diligence assessments in the industrial sector for more than 25 years. Environmental due diligence incorporates Phase I Environmental Site Assessments with environmental, health and safety compliance reviews. He has a highly developed sense of estimating the probability and potential cost of identified environmental risks and communicating this information to management, financial and legal stakeholders. His global environmental due diligence experience has included deals ranging in value up to $16B. Dennis’ experience has ncluded all things environmental in a career that has spanned 40 years. Much of his experience in the middle of his career was to assist Fortune 500 companies to respond to regulations when they were first issued. He has used this knowledge to conduct intensive compliance audits of manufacturing and hazardous waste management facilities across the country. He enjoys working at the operations level to evaluate and modify practices to assure practical, effective and consistent compliance with workplace environmental and cost efficiency expectations. Dennis is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He holds a Master’s of Civil Engineering/Water Resources from Villanova University and a Bachelor’s of Civil Engineering from Penn State.
