CCES Performs Energy Audits for Diverse Small Businesses
Climate Change & Environmental Services (CCES) is one of the few firms to have been selected under a New York State-funded program to perform energy audits of a wide variety of facilities in New York City and Westchester Counties. These facilities range from light industry to retail storefronts and from churches to offices and schools. Experienced CCES energy experts visit the facilities, collecting data concerning its boilers, air conditioning, lighting, windows, and operations. After the data is reviewed, we develop an easy-to-understand report with many feasible strategies to reduce energy use. Each strategy would result in a return on the initial investment, based on likely savings of energy costs. In many cases, financial incentives for the upfront costs are available thanks to the New York State agency. Several dozen audits have been conducted so far leading to recommendations of strategies that would realize annual savings ranging from a few hundred dollars in avoided energy costs to tens of thousands of dollars. The reports and follow up work have enabled these small businesses and non-profits without the in-house expertise to realize significant cost savings, improved efficiency, and reduced emission rates.
